Dear donors and supporters,
I hope you are enjoying this soft entry into summer with just a little of spring left.
Last Friday, we held our commencement ceremony. It was bittersweet. Hundreds of students are moving on to the next phase of their journeys with even bigger goals and aspirations than when they started here at Hartnell. Thanks to you, our students have expanded their horizons and achieved a significant milestone in their lives. THANK YOU. I will sure miss seeing a lot of them on campus – but I am happy that they are progressing on to a 4-year university or entering the workforce. From the bottom of my heart, CONGRATULATIONS to our Class of 2023!
Just two weeks ago, the Hartnell College Foundation was so happy to welcome our guests back to the Party IN the Library. It was wonderful. We honored our friend Kurt Gollnick and we raised funds that will support student programs and scholarships. Read more about it in the story below.
On a personal note, I was nominated to be a champion for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in Monterey Bay. My team’s mission was to raise $50,000 to support families in need and for cancer research. On Saturday, the final event was held in which I was named Visionary of the Year Runner-up. Thanks to family, friends, and supporters, I am proud to have represented Hartnell and with my candidate team to have raised $83,000 toward the fight against cancer. Together, with my fellow candidates, we raised a total of $454,000. This was a real honor for me.
As always, we appreciate you and your continuous support for students.
Be well,

PARTY IN THE LIBRARY
Staple Event Raises Over $350,000!
With Party in the Library back IN the library, the Hartnell College Foundation rolled out
This highly successful event gathered members of the diverse community on the Central Coast. The guests were treated to an array of food and beverages, a live auction, prizes, and live music.
According to preliminary results, the net income from the event was more than $350,000. This is the second-highest fundraising result for this event in the past five years.
During the program, Kurt Gollnick, community leader, loyal friend, generous supporter, and champion of all things Hartnell, received the Leadership Award after a moving tribute. Family and friends were there to celebrate with him. Kurt’s energy is contagious, and he puts all his talents to work for the organizations he cares about. His leadership has made a tremendous difference at Hartnell, and we are forever grateful.
In addition, student-athlete Kanyada Doughty spoke about her journey through college and the multiple ways in which the Hartnell College Foundation supported her passions as a swimmer and pre-nursing student. She thanked her coaches and professors for their guidance and encouragement.
The Hartnell College Foundation thanks all the sponsors who supported Party IN the Library this year. For more photos of this year’s event, visit hartnellfoundation.org/party.
