Dear donors and supporters,

As we wrap up 2022, I want to thank you for the support you provide to students through the Hartnell College Foundation. This time of year reminds us to be kinder to each other and think of ways to help those who are facing tremendous challenges more intentionally.

Our hope is that we can walk alongside you and help you to navigate the ways in which you can leave a legacy for family and in our community. The article below helps to flesh out the means by which this can be accomplished and touches on the idea of planning so that you have peace of mind.

Last week, we held our annual President’s Holiday Reception. It was a great turnout and the space was filled with warmth and love. We recognized the honorees for the annual Change-Maker Awards including the Tottino and Alameda Families, and the Sally Hughes Church Foundation. In addition, Christopher Lopez and Rene Mendez were recognized with the Hartnell College Foundation Leadership and Courage Awards for Championing the Salinas Valley Promise.  A special editorial will appear in January with more about these amazing honorees.

Take good care and hope to see you at one of our gatherings soon.

ESTATE PLANNING
Harvest Your Legacy

Cool Mornings, Warm Memories. Winter days may be cooler, but the memories are warmer. As you spend time with your family and friends this season, think about how important they are to you and how vital you are to them. The people and causes in our lives represent an investment in our hopes, dreams, and aspirations. We would not be the same without them.

Take time to plan your legacy. Write your will or update the one you have. When you do, you will wrap yourself in the warmth of knowing you have taken care of everyone and everything valuable to you.

Planning is not about things. It gives voice to your values and continues the love and care that has exemplified your life.

You may mention others in your plan, but your plan is really for you. It gives you peace of mind, even as it gives a piece of you to others.

We are here to help. There are many ways we can help you fulfill your philanthropic goals. Contact Vice President of Advancement and Development and Executive Director for the Foundation, Jackie Cruz at jcruz@hartnell.edu or call (831) 444-2446.
